Kindergarten Prep
Ages Four to Five
Our Kindergarten Prep program is designed for children in the four to five age range joining our center, at any experience level. The focus of our program is to prepare your child for Kindergarten by teaching them the skills necessary for their success including, but not limited to, learning how to hold a pencil, writing the alphabet, learning to write their name, and how to count to 20. If there are any knowledge gaps your child is struggling with, we will provide the additional support they need to make sure they are never left behind, and offer recourses to help connect with programs who can also help to guide your child to success.
Our fantastic Pre-K teachers, Carol Hofbauer, and Herma Prophete, understand the importance of validating your child’s emotions as they learn and grow. They dedicate themselves to creating classroom environments with a foundation of empathy and compassion. Throughout free play and group activities, we will help model positive social behaviors to teach respect and proper listening skills as your child interacts with peers. Our goal is to get them comfortable with resolving disagreements by using conflict management skills more independently over time.
The classroom offers a variety of centers and toys for your child to enjoy. The centers include:
- A science center with plants, educational games, puzzles, and photos of professionals to spark inspiration
- An art center with newspapers, old books, and stencils for your child to learn how to cut shapes, color, and trace.
- A math center with playing cards and flashcards for your child to learn their numbers and how to count
- A block area for building and creativity
- A reading area / cozy center, where your child can pick a book any time of the day and relax or simply take a break from classroom play and peer interaction
A Child’s Life provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack all cooked in our kitchen with the goal of helping your child feel at home.
